The value of ponying horses for colt starting
Anna demonstrates the value of ponying a young mustang filly in preparation to starting her under saddle. The methodologies build upon one another from teaching our horses the "dance, distance and direction" (TLC) on the ground to make the step to ponying easier. By including a grounds person the filly is aided to come off pressure and gain fluidity far easier. She learns to respect space, trust the horse and rider, gain forward motion, yield to pressure, learn speed and direction as well as movement from above. These vital aspect allow her to move from within the safety of the RP to the arena and then into the wide open space of the world.
