Why is my filly grinding her teeth?

My filly is grinding her teeth. What causes her to do this? She is a 3yr old . I can hear her grinding from a distance.

Our Trainer Answers:

Some horses grind their teeth from boredom, others when they get nervous. Possibly she may be trying to lose the caps off of her teeth, which is normal at age 3. I recommend having your vet check her teeth to see if she is due for a float.
