Chesham Stakes

The Chesham Stakes is a Listed flat horse race in Great Britain which is open to two-year-old thoroughbreds. It is run at Ascot over a distance of 7 furlongs (1,408 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in June.

The event is named after the 3rd Baron Chesham, who served as the last Master of the Buckhounds in 1900–01. It was first run in 1919, and it was originally contested over 5 furlongs. It replaced a previous race, the first leg of the Triennial Stakes.

The distance of the Chesham Stakes was later extended to 6 furlongs, and this was increased to its current length, 7 furlongs, in 1996. It is now restricted to horses whose sires won at distances in excess of 9½ furlongs or 1,900 metres. It is presently the first race on the final day of the Royal Ascot meeting.
