Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial

The Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial is a Group 3 flat horse race in Ireland which is open to three-year-old thoroughbred fillies. It is run at Leopardstown over a distance of 1 mile (1,609 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in May.

The event serves as a trial for the Irish 1,000 Guineas, which is usually held two weeks later. No recent winner has subsequently achieved victory in the "Guineas", although Strawberry Roan, Kitza and Alexander Goldrun all went on to finish runner-up. The race was promoted to Group 3 status in 2002, before which it had been classed at Listed level. A similar event, the Leopardstown 1,000 Guineas Trial Stakes, takes place at Leopardstown in March or April.
