Divine Madonna

Divine Madonna (foaled 8 October 2002) was an Australian Thoroughbred racehorse. She was a brown mare bred by Mr R. Dinham of South Australia and was by Hurricane Sky from My Madonna by Prego (IRE). Divine Madonna was a half-sister to Blessum (VRC Standish Handicap winner).[1]

She made her debut as a two-year-old in February 2005 at Cheltenham Park Racecourse, South Australia in a race in which she came from last on the home turn to win. Divine, as she was affectionately known, raced from 2005 - 2008.

Divine Madonna won four group one races, the 2006 Emirates Stakes, 2007 Queen of the Turf Stakes, 2007 Toorak Handicap and the 2007 Myer Classic. She had 26 career starts and only finished out of the top five twice in her career. [1]

Divine Madonna made up over eight lengths in the space of 300 metres in her Emirates Stakes win in which she defeated New Zealand group one winner Seachange (horse).

She was retired at five due to a back injury and was immediately retired to stud. Divine Madonna was trained by Mark Kavanagh.
