Grosser Preis der Wirtschaft

The Grosser Preis der Wirtschaft is a Group 3 flat horse race in Germany which is open to thoroughbreds aged three years or older. It is run at Dortmund over a distance of 2,000 metres (about 1¼ miles), and it is scheduled to take place each year in June.

The event was established in 1968, and at times it has been known as the "Grosser Preis von Dortmund" and the "Grosser Preis der Dortmunder Industrie und Wirtschaft". During the early part of its history the race's distance was frequently modified, ranging from 1,800 to 2,400 metres. In 1981 it began a more prolonged spell at 1,800 metres, and this was cut to 1,750 metres in 1998. The present length, 2,000 metres, was introduced in 2008.
