Hamburg Trophy

The Hamburg Trophy is a Group 3 flat horse race in Germany which is open to thoroughbreds aged three years or older. It is run at Horner Rennbahn, Hamburg, over a distance of 1,200 metres (about 6 furlongs), and it is scheduled to take place each year in late June or early July.

The event was established in 1966, and its distance was initially set at 1,200 metres. This was extended to 1,400 metres in 1974. The race was given Group 3 status in 1985, and its length was reverted to 1,200 metres in 1989.

Throughout its history the Hamburg Trophy has been known by various sponsored titles. These have included the Cognac-Hennessy-Rennen (1983–84), the American Express-Preis (1985–87), the De Kuyper-Preis (1988–91) and the Holsten Trophy (1992–2004).
