The Phoenix Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in Ireland which is open to two-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies. It is run at the Curragh over a distance of 6 furlongs (1,207 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in July or August.

The event was originally held at Phoenix Park, and during the early part of its history it was called the Phoenix Plate. For many years it was contested over a length of 5 furlongs. The current system of race grading was introduced in 1971, and the Phoenix Stakes was initially classed at Group 2 level. It was promoted to the highest status, Group 1, in 1979. Its distance was extended to 6 furlongs in the 1980s.

The racecourse at Phoenix Park closed at the end of the 1990 season, and so the event was transferred to a different venue, Leopardstown. It moved to its present home, the Curragh, in 2002.
