The Prix Jacques Le Marois is a Group 1 flat horse race in France which is open to thoroughbred colts and fillies aged three years or older. It is run at Deauville over a distance of 1,600 metres (about 1 mile), and it is scheduled to take place each year in August.

History

The event was established in 1921, and it was originally restricted to three-year-old horses only. It was named in memory of Jacques Le Marois (1865–1920), a president of the Société des Courses de Deauville, a former governing body of racing at Deauville.

The Prix Jacques Le Marois was not run in 1940 because of World War II. For the remainder of this period, while its regular venue was closed, the event was switched temporarily between Maisons-Laffitte (1941–43, 1945) and Longchamp (1944). The latter is the only running not to have taken place on a straight course. The race returned to Deauville in 1946, and it was opened to horses aged four or older in 1952.

The stud farm Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard began to sponsor the Prix Jacques Le Marois in 1986. Horses stabled at this farm, which was formerly owned by Marcel Boussac and later Stavros Niarchos, have won the race on eighteen occasions.
