Silberne Peitsche

The Silberne Peitsche is a Group 3 flat horse race in Germany which is open to thoroughbreds aged three years or older. It is run at Galopprennbahn Cologne-Weidenpesch, Cologne over a distance of 1,300 metres (about 6½ furlongs), and it is scheduled to take place each year in July or August.

The event was formerly run at Gelsenkirchen over 1,400 metres, and it was given Listed status in 1983. Its distance was extended to 1,450 metres in 1998, and it was then cut to 1,200 metres in 2000. The race was transferred to its present venue, Cologne, in 2002. It was promoted to Group 3 level in 2007, and simultaneously its length was increased to 1,300 metres.
