The Saddle Club is a children's television series based on the books written by Bonnie Bryant and is an Australia/Canada co-production. Like the book series, the scripted live action series follows the lives of three teenage girls in training to compete in equestrian competitions at the fictional Pine Hollow Stables, while dealing with problems from their personal lives.

Story

The series revolves around the experiences of Carole Hanson, Stevie Lake, and Lisa Atwood, who form "The Saddle Club" after recognizing their love for horse riding. However, their friendship is detested by fellow rider Veronica DiAngelo; Veronica is a snooty, blonde and totally spoiled girl, the only daughter of a very rich family.

Throughout the series, The Saddle Club has to deal with Veronica, dressage training, and competitions, as well as the troubles of their friends and staff in the fictional Pine Hollow Stables. Through perseverance and friendship, The Saddle Club always comes through. The Saddle Club also has a mission set before them: get Veronica to take care of Garnet. The Saddle Club wasn't successful in their attempts to get Veronica to take care of Cobalt, Veronica's earlier gorgeous horse, due to him being put down because of a jumping accident during Season 1 in Episode 10.

Production

The show aired from 2001 until 2004, with 52 episodes produced and aired in two seasons. The popularity of the series soon after its premiere on the ABC promoted international syndication, and it can now be seen in North America on Discovery Kids, Horse Racing TV, YTV, with Connecticut Public Television & Pop Girl airing it in the UK. Regionally, the cast of the television series have released a series of music albums such as Friends Forever, On Top Of The World, Secrets & Dreams, and Hello World – The Best Of The Saddle Club and have appeared in live performances such as the 2004 Sydney Royal Easter Show. "The Saddle Club – Greatest Hits" and "Summer With The Saddle Club" are available as MP3 Downloads on Amazon.com.

In 2007, there was a news release of the show announcing a casting call and the production of a third season, which was filmed from 2007–2008. The third season of the show began on September 29, 2008 and is currently showing on PBS Kids on cable. It is also showing on Discovery Kids in North America. The new Saddle Club CD "Best Friends" is now available in stores in Australia and on The Saddle Club's official Store website. However, "Best Friends" is available for Digital Download in the USA and Canada. Season 3 aired on Discovery Kids in the US on February 22, 2009 and sneak peeks of Season 3 aired on "Saddle Club Sundays" in December 2008. In Australia the new series commenced on Channel Nine & WIN TV on 7 March, 2009. By April 2009, PBS Kids released all three of the seasons.

The program with The Saddle Club is currently broadcast on Channel Nine, WIN TV and NBN TV (except Imparja) from Saturday afternoons at 1pm. Season 1 of "The Saddle Club" is also currently broadcast during the Equestrian Life TV block on HRTV.
