Uptowncharlybrown (foaled February 6, 2007 in Kentucky) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse currently working towards a berth in the 2010 United States Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing series. Sired by Graded stakes race winner, Limehouse, he is out of the mare La Iluminada, a daughter of Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame inductee, Langfuhr. He is owned by a racing partnership in which 59 people each invested US$1,250. [1]

Uptowncharlybrown made his racing debut on December 26, 2009 at Tampa Bay Downs, winning a 6½ furlong sprint by nine lengths. He made his next start at the same track on January 16, 2010 in the 7 furlong Pasco Stakes. He won this one by six lengths. [2]

Uptowncharlybrown suffered the first defeat of his career in his third start while running third in the Sam F. Davis Stakes behind Rule and Schoolyard Dreams. Despite this minor set-back, he will still be pointed to the Tampa Bay Derby in his next start. In the past this has turned as a key prep race for serious Kentucky Derby contenders like Any Given Saturday, and eventual Derby winner Street Sense.

Trainer Alan Seewald passed away unexpectedly on April 12, 2010 and Kiaran McLaughlin later took over. The horse is currently scheduled to run on June 5th in the third leg of the U.S. Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes. [3]
