The Vincent O'Brien National Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in Ireland which is open to two-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies. It is run at the Curragh over a distance of 7 furlongs (1,408 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in September.

The event was formerly known as the National Stakes, and for a period it used to be classed at Group 2 level. It was promoted its current status, Group 1, in 1985. For much of its history the race has been contested over 7 furlongs, but this was extended to 1 mile in 1997. Its previous distance was restored in 2000.

The race was renamed in memory of Vincent O'Brien (1917–2009), a highly successful racehorse trainer, in 2009. O'Brien recorded fifteen victories in the National Stakes, and some of his greatest successes were achieved at the Curragh.[1]
